Airlinesim | Tutorial | How to Build a Long-Lasting Hub | Part 2
A lot of new Airlinesim players go through the initial struggle of trying to figure out how to structure and maintain a hub, some barely understand the meaning of the word. In this video series, I will try to help new players build the hub in Airlinesim that will withstand the harshest conditions the game can offer. So fly along, as I show you how to evaluate routes, schedule aircraft, and give tips on operational aspects of your hub.
As for uploads, I play Airlinesim for fun, and I figured may as well share that enjoyment with others. I don't play often, but when I do, I play, so I will likely split a play session into multiple parts. I do play a lot of other aviation titles, hence the na...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of choosing to use newer, expensive aircraft or cheap, older planes in the beginnings of your airline? This choice can make or break your airline and it is one of the biggest mistakes new players make. I hope to help reduce early failure with this video. Remember, all aircraft are useful in airlinesim; it is just a matter of how you use them. As for upl...

Hello, everyone welcome to the channel! I thought I would change it up with this video and start a new airline on the temporary server Yeager, which has some special changes made for testing. As an experienced player, I figured I would give it a go and see if I can make a small airline work at the small Toronto City airport. With its short runway, aircraft choices are limited, so we will see if...

    how do I know what the demand is between two destinations? Is it just trial and error?

    • @Dashsolpher1
      @Dashsolpher1 3 года назад

      Put simply, the answer to that is yes. There are no in-game tools that will provide you the traffic total between two destinations. You can use other players flights, to an extent, to gauge how yours might perform. I would direct you to a blog written by the dev team: www.airlinesim.aero/blog/2019/09/21/demand-in-airlinesim/ However, that is not to say that there are no other means to find out. The way to do it in-game would be to fly flights between two destinations exclusively, with no other feeders, until you no longer fill the flight. You can then look at how many seats you are filling and that is the total demand, but this method is impractical since you won't be in a world by yourself nor will you focus your whole airline on a single route. The other means is to pay for a real-world tool/software that the airlines, consultants, etc. use like Cirium or Diio. These have compiled figures for passenger numbers around the world along with connecting statistics. Unfortunately, these can be pricey as you might guess.

      @@Dashsolpher1 thank you for the in-depth response. Would a reliable way be to use flightradar24 like you did in your other tutorials? You could look at how many flights there are each day between two points and see what plane they are using to maybe get a good gauge on what you could do in-game

    • @Dashsolpher1
      @Dashsolpher1 3 года назад

      @@BartoloVids Your are right, FR24 can be a good source. All the worlds have been updated with newer data, so it would paint a somewhat accurate picture. I would advise that FlightRadar shows reposition and charter flights which are not factored into AS demand and network airlines have hubs which influence flight frequency. Using budget or point-to-point carriers can increase accuracy.

    What about an hub in DXB? How should be built up the waving system?

    • @Dashsolpher1
      @Dashsolpher1 3 года назад

      The second part should answer your question, it's hard for me to give specific advise without having the context of your world, and Dubai isn't the greatest place to start as stated in the video...but for a hub in DXB I would first try connecting the Asian continent to the European continent. If you look at resources such as FlightRadar24 you can see a good portion of the traffic runnnig through the Middle East hubs is this way-with some Africa, Australia, and American thrown in. Good luck!

    I'm finding your videos very helpful! I'm wondering if used aircraft can have better profit margins (with a good lease price) over a new aircraft? Or do new aircraft always have better margins? For my domestic routes with no competition I'm running used aircraft (15 yrs old) that were super cheap, but maybe I would have better margins with new aircraft instead.. I'm on an older world. Thanks!

    • @Dashsolpher1
      @Dashsolpher1 4 года назад

      Good observation! Yes, used aircraft do grant a larger profit margin than new aircraft primarily due to the lower purchase price. As stated in the video, the cost of this is the lower rating due to the age of the plane. However, on older worlds, alliances and established players typically have leasing companies or arms and they can lease you younger planes at low leasing prices, which can give you a similar profit margin without the harsher penalty of the lower age rating. Perhaps look into the latter to accelerate your growth!

    Thanks! I've been looking for an up to date tutorial. Love your strats. Whats your thoughts on connecting to small unserved aurports (3-5 bar airports) from larger hubs like JFK or ORD?

    • @Dashsolpher1
      @Dashsolpher1 4 года назад

      First of all, thank you for watching! To answer your question, it really depends on the demand and the state of your hub, whether it's developed or just starting. To be clear, in AS, the bar rating really tells you nothing about the airport's demand figures. It mostly just tells you whether the airport is big or small. In Indonesia, I service some of my 4 bar airports with A350s and with upwards of 20 daily flights. So it really comes down to your network. I would use one of the tools I talk about and look and see what regional airports are served from JFK and ORD to determine the viability of the route. However, if you are looking at those airports as a way to start out, I would not recommend it.
